It would've been a perfect idea, right? Keeping it consistent--and with someone who's so well-liked by almost everyone in the world--would've made the movie better. Anyway, thanks for listening!

Quite true, but gritty realism wasn't a Spillane trademark either. Mike Hammer wasn't exactly doing the CHINATOWN thing.

@everybody: Sorry for the late reply. I just never got around to reading them.

Ricky, I haven't listened to the show, but I did learn about your guest appearance. I'll make sure to check that out.

@Bill: You, again? LOL, no worries, you have a great appreciation of noir, oftentimes offering insights I never knew or would have thought about, so you're always welcome.

@Mark: speaking of things I did not know, I was unaware of Kubrick's participation in the development of 'One-Eyed Jacks'. I think were a lot of film on which Kubrick offered a helping hand that many don't know about. For example, he helped production designer Ken Adam light the mega submarine set in 'The Spy Who Loved Me'.

@Staindslaved: Yes, seeing how Kubrick presents the heist is a little joy in of itself for its structure.

@Staindslaved: Excellent point about the final fight which I did not get into in my review. The fear in their eyes is unmistakable, which makes the battle all the more intense. One can tell that neither knows how to fight exactly but they're both going at it anyhow in very sloppy manner. It,s a great moment.

Totally negative. It was a great episode fitting for a great season. Not the best cliff hanger but still. Crowley is still great. Cas is a great charater. True i dont really care about Meg but still. I agree it was way too easy to kill Dick but everything else was great

[...] In this article, the work of Evans the director will be discussed, as will his place in the pantheon of martial arts cinema. An idea which is an interesting one, as the notion of a foreign director coming into the martial arts cinema industry and changing it is not a new one. Take King Boxer (five fingers of death). One of the most important and influential martial arts films that established things like the jumping face off, white powder on the actors to accentuate the power of blows, many genre tropes and conventions were established through this movie, and it was directed by a Korean director (Chang-Hwa Jeong). Back in the early 70s such an idea was a rarity, what about now, where does Gareth Evans fit and what has he done for the genre? Read more at sound on sight [...]

I think you're being a little harsh here. Shows are allowed to evolve. People stress that they love the brother's relationship--I do too. However, a show can't thrive for 7 seasons on the same material. Whether people like it or not, Castiel is a major part of the show and I think it's okay to welcome other characters into the mix and even let them shine.

I agree, yet, to my taste, this was better than The Killing, his slightly more famous noir. The Killing seemed impersonal, and the documentary look he was trying to achieve bored the hell out of me for most of the movie. The ending, though, is brilliant, abandoning the doc-attempt for an apartment shootout ending with the bruised and bloodied antihero (a desperate man, walked all over by his cheating wife) pumping rounds into his wife, who can be accurately be described as a bored, unsatisfied, abusive bitch.

SG was given a good opportunity, but when her two seasons are evaluated, they were pretty dismal as a whole. Some individual episodes were good, but the storytelling, pacing, plotting, and characterizations were bad. I am so looking forward to Jeremy Carver taking over.

I agree with all of the points your brought out and would add one more: the two lead characters have been undeveloped and under-utilized for two years, with significant attention was given to support characters, particularly Cas. There is absolutely no excuse for support characters to be given more attention than the leads in any television show.

I thought the episode ended with great possibilities for Carver to mine. I hope he does. I have watched every episode live for seven years, and I'd like to see the show get back on track. I'm looking forward to S8 to see if that happens.

I agree for the most part. The one thing I have to say is that this place they left them in has me intrigued.

I've said I thought they should've ended it at the end of season 5 because where do you go storywise after stopping doomsday.

I can see why you wouldn't like the direction of the story with them going widescale again instead of more personal relationship type of stuff; but i'm willing to give them a shot because I think this is the first real idea they've had in two seasons.

I think that them trying to figure out how to survive where they are, how to defeat the creatures, the rules of the place and how to get out of it if possible could be very interesting.

Seems like it might actually be sorta inspired...which I don't think I really have been able to say about this show overall too much lately.
