Paranormal Activity Director Oren Peli to Helm Adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s Eliza Graves

Oren Peli, the director of Paranormal Activity has signed on to direct Edgar Allen Poe’s Eliza Graves, a short story which centres on a Medical School grad, who takes a job at an insane asylum, not knowing of course that the asylum has been taken over by the patients.

Who better to adapt a story by one of the creepiest writers of all time than the director of one of the most profitable horror films of all time.

Films inspired by the works/life of Poe have become something of a trend recently, with more than one either in development or, in the case of James McTeigue’s The Raven about to start shooting. This film will follow up Peli’s current project Area 51, a found footage sci-fi thriller that tells the story of three teens whose curiosity leads them to the notorious Area 51 part of Nellis Air Force Base in the Nevada desert.
