Sound On Sight Radio #126 – Taking Pelham, Then and Now

Taking Pelham, Then and Now
This past weekend saw the release of director Tony Scott’s re-envisioning of Joseph Sargent’s 1974 thriller “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three,” with Denzel Washington taking over from Walter Matthau and John Travolta subbing for Robert Shaw. We’ll examine both the remake and Sargent’s original, as well as taking this occasion to take a look back at another crime film from the era, John Boorman’s “Point Blank,” which itself was remade as “Payback,” starring Mel Gibson.

Well, apparently you don’t even know anything about cinema.
You should continue to hide your review of “Taken” within a series of other reviews. Example:
Rick: At least the robots in the new Transformers film look less clunky this time.
Simon:I’ll tell you what’s clunky, the characater moivation for Liam Neeson’s character in “Taken! Baehb-Baehb-Baehb!
or
Ali: In “Public Enemies” Michael Mann is back to his forte, the crime film, as he investigates the exploits of famous bank robber and criminal John Dillinger…
Simon: I’ll tell you what’s criminal: Charging 11 dollars to see “Taken”. Baehb-Baehb!
OR
Al: I didn’t watch any of the trailers this week, cause I was at a Bursem concert…
Simon: “Taken” is fucking retarded.
Al: Stop using that word!
So what your really saying is that Simon should just review the movie Taken every week.
Pretty much.
It’s ‘Burzum.’ You’re already on the internet. Look it up.
Whot?
I liked TAKEN, but I think it’s overrated. It has some serious flaws. If Liam Neeson weren’t in it, I don’t think I would have liked it.
Believe it or not, my favorite Pixar film is A BUG’S LIFE, followed by WALL(E), followed by RATATOUILLE and TOY STORY 1 & 2. I didn’t like CARS though.
Good episode on Tony Scott. I’ve liked some of Tony Scott’s films, but I’m extremely angry that he’s going to remake one of my top 10 favorite films. THE WARRIORS. Oh well, I’ll still see it out of curiosity…
If he can keep actors like Nick Cage and John Travolta out of the remake of The Warriors, than I will see it. However I have no plans in watching the remake of Taking of Pelham 123. I have no interest in seeing John Travolta in the lead of another movie.
fair enough.
[...] Episode 126 – Taking Pelham 123, Then and Now: Taking of Pelham 123 [1974], Taking of Pelham 123 [2009] , plus Lee Marvin in Point Blank [...]
Stop slagging Taken!
Taken SUCKED!!
Taken rocked!!! (See how I used three exlamation points versus your two, to emphasise how good it was)
I wanted to review Taken on the show but Simon refuses. Like I said, I really enjoyed Liam Neeson in the film.
Man, I really have to see Taken now.
