12 years and hundreds of millions of dollars later, James Cameron returns to reclaim his status as the world’s biggest deal. Avatar, his new sci-fi epic, hit theatres this weekend, and it’s an event so huge that the whole SoS crew – Ricky, Al, Mariko, and Simon – are here to impart their judgment. The gang will also be doing their year-end wrap-ups, including top tens, so alert the Academy.

Your post seemed quite spot on but to become honest I didn’t really like Avatar very much. I mean everyone else I’ve met just adores it but me personally, who occurs to be a techie type of fan, just couldn’t get into it.

Great show guys. You’re right about Up. Great beginning. I dont totally agree with your Avatar review but thanks for balancing it a bit because the hype and the reviews are far too glowing. I’m just waiting for the expected backlash for the DVD release from all the critics who loved it when it first came out.
Really looking forward to hearing your opinions on this. I seen it last night and it thought it was amazing. The 3D is definitely the only way to see it. Best visuals in a movie so far i think i have ever seen.
If your doing a top ten run down I hope yous are going to include Ricks Meltdown over Precious, funniest SOS moment of the year!!

Saw the midnight screening last night in glorious 3-D. It’s outstanding.
Really than do you want to write a review because I was in too much pain to enjoy it.
It should be up by Tuesday morning the latest!
