The Televerse #23- Spotlight on Justified/The Critic with Tyler Smith

In a welcome change, this week almost every show Simon and I watched turned in an at least above average episode. Unfortunately, there’s a rather significant exception in Downton Abbey, which we take to task. Then we spotlight Justified’s latest, “Harlan Roulette”, and we wrap things up with Tyler Smith from Battleship Pretension and More Than One Lesson joining us at the DVD Shelf to discuss The Critic.

This week, we cover New Girl, Top Chef: Texas, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Archer, Vampire Diaries, Grimm, Supernatural, Fringe, An Idiot Abroad, the Super Bowl, The Voice, Luck, Lost Girl, and HIMYM.

  1. Top Chef: Chris C (aka Malibu Chris) is fan favorite because he has been littering the twitterverse with shameless appeals for votes. Maybe he is also getting votes because he’s pretty. But though he’s a nice guy in print he was boring on the show. I don’t know anyone this season deserving of FF. But I like Grayson and Paul.

The Fades: As mentioned in the podcast, I too like how the show moves along and even slams the main character with a truck! And the young actors are great. This is what I like about BBC shows. A season/series will just six episodes – because that’s all it needs to tell the story. They don’t hammer it into the ground until you can’t watch any more of it. I started watching The River. I like it and it’s slated for eight episodes. I’m hoping it wraps up at that point. Can’t see how (or why) this mystery can drag out. Hopefully it’s not trying to be “Lost,” even though there are random voices/whispers and rustling trees reminiscent of the Smoke Monster.
