My usual cinema-going friend declined to see this with me, as he came to believe that it was just going to be "two people having sex a lot in the woods" - I guess from the rubbish spouted by the tabloid press. But to be honest I'm glad I saw it alone. As a father of a young toddler, I found Antichrist's plot discomforting and gripping. Being with a friend would've given me a level of distraction or protection that might've spoilt the whole experience for me. My favourite film of the year so far.
