Video Of The Day: Explaining the Ending of “Breaking Bad” Season Four

Sunday night’s Breaking Bad Season 4 finale was legendary. Not only did it contain a number of WTF moments, but it had anyone who criticized episode 12, eating crow. I recently guest hosted on The Televerse podcast to discuss the season with Kate and Simon, and the surprise twist ending. I highly recommend taking a listen to the episode but in the meantime, you should all watch this video explaining exactly how the surprise twist went down. The video was edited by YouTube user jcham979 who accurately predicted the season’s outcome days in advance of the finale’s air date. Jesse has always been the heart of the show and Walt has fucked him over several times and has been using him for his own benefit since day one. I’ve said time and time again that the only way for the series to end is to have a showdown between Jesse and Walt. If anyone takes down Walt, it will be Jesse and with one season left, it seems that is the direction in which the show is headed. Here is the video. Enjoy!

Is it so far-fetched to think that a chemist would know the right amount of poison to make a child sick but that wouldn’t be lethal? It isn’t the biggest leap of faith the show has asked of its audience. I think Walt does care about Jesse. At the end of ‘Half Measure’ Walt didn’t have to save Jesse. He was on good terms with Gus then, wouldn’t it have been easier to let Jesse die and continue cooking for Gus making millions a year. There is redemption in Walt’s loyalty to Jesse.

I’m sorry, but to me, Walt was NEVER sympathetic! A man who decides the only way to save his family was to make substance sure to bring pain and ruin to other families? That’s an evil mother*cker from the get go.

I’m with you 100%! I love the show, but Walt has never truly been sympathetic.

Walt starts out as a sympathetic figure, a man dying of cancer who needed to leave a little nest egg for his family. Four seasons later, he has become like any of the other bad guys, prepared to do anything to maintain his business. Now, he is the meth don, and will need to protect himself, hire his own goons, perhaps even kill his nosey brother in law. He is going to come down in Season 5 and the show ill end on that note.

That clip really fills in the blanks. In a recent interview with Vince Gilligan and Aaron Paul on NPR’s Fresh Air program, they said that Jesse was supposed to die sometime in the first season. How different would this show be without Jesse?!
